MERKUR 39C Slant Barber Pole

The MERKUR 39C Slant Barber Pole is a two-piece safety razor with slanted head geometry, for coarse, dense beards.

Construction and function

In the slant head, the cap and comb are twisted relative to one another along the longitudinal axis, holding the blade rigidly at a different cutting angle. This design requires focused, careful handling.

The long, ridged Barber Pole handle is brass and the head is die-cast zinc. Electroplated chrome gives a polished finish, and it is made in Germany.

With a net weight of 113 g and overall dimensions of 100 × 41 × 25 mm, the 39C combines substantial construction with a slanted cut. The head opening facilitates lather flow and residue removal.

Directions

With your hands and the razor completely dry, turn the screw at the base of the handle anticlockwise and remove the cap. Hold the blade by its unsharpened sides. Fit the new blade by aligning its holes with the locating pins, then secure the cap by turning the screw clockwise without overtightening.

Wet the area with warm water and apply shaving soap or foam. Allow a few minutes for the hairs to soften. Move the razor in straight strokes, at approximately 30° to the skin, without additional pressure. Rinse the head between strokes.

Care

To remove greasy soap residue, use hair shampoo or mild washing-up liquid. Avoid acidic cleaners, as they damage the surfaces.

Precautions

Do not use circular movements or move along the cutting edge of the blade: these can cause injury.
