MERKUR 38C Barber Pole

The MERKUR 38C Barber Pole is a two-piece safety razor with a long, ridged handle and polished chrome finish.

Construction and function

The distinctive handle shape recalls a barber pole. Its textured surface and the tool’s weight help you guide the blade steadily, while the closed-comb head is intended for classic wet shaving.

The handle is made from brass and the head from die-cast zinc, with electroplated chrome surfaces. Overall dimensions are 100 × 43 × 25 mm and the net weight is 113 g.

The 38C is made in Germany. The head opening allows a high flow of lather, making hair and residue easier to remove when rinsing.

Directions

With your hands and the razor completely dry, turn the screw at the base of the handle anticlockwise and remove the cap. Hold the blade by its unsharpened sides. Fit the new blade by aligning its holes with the locating pins, then secure the cap by turning the screw clockwise without overtightening.

Wet the area with warm water and apply shaving soap or foam. Allow a few minutes for the hairs to soften. Move the razor in straight strokes, at approximately 30° to the skin, without additional pressure. Rinse the head between strokes.

Care

To remove greasy soap residue, use hair shampoo or mild washing-up liquid. Avoid acidic cleaners, as they damage the surfaces.

Precautions

Do not use circular movements or move along the cutting edge of the blade: these can cause injury.
