MERKUR 34G 24K gold-plated

The MERKUR 34G is a two-piece safety razor with a short handle, closed comb and electroplated 24-carat gold finish.

Construction and function

The brass handle is paired with a die-cast zinc head. The gold coating covers the outer surfaces, while the screw at the base of the handle allows the head to be opened for blade changes.

The tool itself weighs 78 g and measures 81 × 43 × 25 mm overall. It is made in Germany and takes classic double-edge blades.

The head opening allows lather and hair to rinse away, limiting residue build-up around the blade.

Directions

With your hands and the razor completely dry, turn the screw at the base of the handle anticlockwise and remove the cap. Hold the blade by its unsharpened sides. Fit the new blade by aligning its holes with the locating pins, then secure the cap by turning the screw clockwise without overtightening.

Wet the area with warm water and apply shaving soap or foam. Allow a few minutes for the hairs to soften. Move the razor in straight strokes, at approximately 30° to the skin, without additional pressure. Rinse the head between strokes.

Care

To remove greasy soap residue, use hair shampoo or mild washing-up liquid. Avoid acidic cleaners, as they damage the surfaces.

Rinse gold-plated surfaces under warm running water and allow them to air-dry, or gently pat dry with a soft cloth. Avoid rubbing, polishing, microfibre cloths, paper napkins or ordinary towels for drying.

Precautions

Do not use circular movements or move along the cutting edge of the blade: these can cause injury.
