MERKUR 33C

The MERKUR 33C is a three-piece safety razor with a closed comb, compact handle and polished chrome finish.

Construction and function

Diamond knurling on the handle and its end helps provide grip even with wet, soapy fingers. The short handle allows flexible manoeuvring, while the straight foam edge defines the head’s geometry.

The handle is brass and the head is die-cast zinc, with electroplated polished chrome surfaces. The tool itself weighs 56 g and measures 84 × 43 × 25 mm overall.

The opening in the head allows lather and hair to be rinsed away, reducing residue build-up. The 33C is made in Germany and takes classic double-edge blades.

Directions

To fit the blade, unscrew the handle and carefully separate the cap and comb. Align the holes in the new blade with the cap’s locating pins, replace the comb and screw the handle into place without overtightening.

Wet the area with warm water and apply shaving soap or foam. Allow a few minutes for the hairs to soften. Move the razor in straight strokes, at approximately 30° to the skin, without additional pressure. Rinse the head between strokes.

Care

To remove greasy soap residue, use hair shampoo or mild washing-up liquid. Avoid acidic cleaners, as they damage the surfaces.

Precautions

Do not use circular movements or move along the cutting edge of the blade: these can cause injury.
