What are my options?
Three main types: Safety razors with one double-edge blade (classic wet shaving), cartridge razors (Mach3, Fusion compatible), and straight razors. Each type has advantages.
Safety razor for beginners?
Henson AL13 is designed for beginners — very mild. Merkur 34C and Mühle R89 are classic choices with balanced aggression. Avoid open comb at first.
Safety or cartridge?
Safety: closer shave, €0.10-0.50/blade, needs technique. Cartridge: easier, refills everywhere but more expensive. For wet shaving, go safety. For convenience, cartridge.
What blades do I need?
Safety razors accept standard double-edge blades — Feather, Astra, Gillette, Mühle. Try different ones to find what suits. Cartridge uses Gillette Mach3/Fusion.
What's the long-term cost?
Safety razors: initial €30-100, then €10-30/year for blades. Cartridge: cheaper upfront, but €50-100/year for refills. Long-term, safety wins.
Do I need a stand?
Not essential but helps — razor dries better, lasts longer, looks elegant in bathroom. Mühle and Rockwell have matching stands.
