Natural sponges are caught by the traditional way of diving. Skilled divers dive to the deep sea, about 25-60 meters. From the depth, the sponges choose with ecological sensitivity, not only the best sponges but also the fully developed ones, leaving the smaller ones to grow for next years harvest. They protect the aquatic environment, which is the source of life for them. The company also takes care of catching only large sponges as pricing is done in export warehouses with strict quality criteria.

Processing:

After the harvest, the processing begins. Once a year, usually in the end of September and at the beginning of October, the boats arrive on the island of Kalymnos.

There the sponges are separated one by one by experienced specialized personnel (usually retired spongers who relive through their work this old life in the depths of the oceans, a life that they loved so much).

The nature of the product as well as the fact that no sponge is similar to another prevented the development of a modern automatic technical method for its processing. So everything is done by hand.
