The Birth of Safety Razor - 1875
In 1875, brothers Frederick, Otto and Richard Kampfe immigrated from Saxony, Germany to Brooklyn, New York. Frustrated with shaving, Frederick modified a straight razor creating the first safety razor, known as "Kampfe's rake".
American Safety Razor Company - 1906
In 1906, Gem Safety Razor and Ever-Ready merged to form the American Safety Razor Company. The company introduced the standard single edge rib-back blade still used today and in 1953 acquired the Pal, Treet and Personna brands.
Stainless Steel Revolution - 1963
In 1963, American Safety Razor became the first company to manufacture stainless steel blades, sold under the Personna brand name. This innovation revolutionized the shaving industry and set new quality standards.
