The Martin de Candre Story
In 1974, Dominique and Rosine Dauge settled in the village of Fontevraud-l'Abbaye. Rosine learned the art of soap making from chemist André Chapuis, creating Martin de Candre. Today, the third generation with Augustin Strodijk continues this rare tradition.
The Marseille Method
Martin de Candre is among the last French soap makers using the traditional Marseille method with hot saponification. This process activates the saponification reaction under heat action, creating exceptionally hard and long-lasting soaps.
Unique Quality
MdC soaps are air-dried for weeks, removing excess moisture. The result is an extremely hard soap that lasts 12+ months of daily use, creates rich lather and retains heat for a better shave.
